From my experience, it is not helpful to immerse myself in songs with strong emotions, such as metal, sad love songs, rock, etc. To help myself control my emotion and concentrate on my thoughts and reality, I usually listen to songs without lyrics, ambient music, classical music, electronic music, etc. However, everyone will react differently to different songs and music. If a certain type of music helps you distract yourself from negative thoughts and helps you concentrate on your behaviour and things you can do, go for it. Here is my list for your consideration.
